Alright, I'm new here. I just picked up an 88 Comanche Chief. I am making a custom headliner, overhead console, sunvisors which I am taking pics and planning on doing a write up on. I am planning on making my comanche as close to something you would find in your jeep showroom today, suede headliner, sunvisors, custom contoured headliner panel, Overhead Console, Auto dim mirror, 3rd brake light with with integrated cargo lamp. I would like to know if it is possible to install the guts out of the overhead console from an XJ into a non OBDII, and all that would be involved, and how many of the features would even work?? I may just have to install the console and wait until I do the complete interior and OBDII swap. Thanks and there is just such a wealth of knowledge on this site. I am about 98% done with the headliner board fab, which I fiberglassed and have about 40 hours into carving, fabricating alone.

Yes, I already have a console that I like, just going to swap all the guts, display, wiring etc. from a XJ OHC into the new one. Thanks. comanche.gif

If its the older style, then yes. They don't need much other than power and ground. Oh, and a wire ran for the temp sensor. IIRC, there is a wire that needs the interior light signal, a power, an ignition, and ground.
