tailgate supports

has any ever converted the metal straps over to steel cables like in most trucks cuz the metal straps always get out of alignment and the tailgate won't close right

ive been thinking of trying that, every time i take off my tailgate it seems i bend one of the metal bars then i have to spend a bit flattening them out. a cable would be really nice, if there were an easy tool less way to take them off.

I have bought everything to do it but still havent done it. Went to Lowes and picked up some braided steel cable and the clamps for it. Then drill a few holes and walla done.
