If you do, the Defrost mode turns on the compressor, so it's likely a loose belt, bad compressor clutch, etc. Turn it on A/C and see if it still still squeals. So I went out to check like you said Don and the squeal stopped when i switched to A/C after like 10 seconds and never came back! Even when I switched back to defrost.
