chunks6067
1990 automatic it seems to be shifting in and out of gear randomly. Ive checked the most normal things like fluid level and lose wires on tcu uder dash, but I'm at a loss an ideas? Similar to this guys problem http://forums.off-road.com/jeep-mid-sized/188771-1988-jeep-cherokee-4wd-shifting-problem.html Thanks in advance
Geonovast
Out of gear, as in randomly goes into Neutral, or randomly shifts up and down gears? If it's the latter, check your TPS.

Geonovast
I don't see how a bad TPS can cause it to randomly go into Neutral, but I'm not a slushbox electrical expert. Your TCU may be going out, something to check. If you have access to a good TCU to swap in, try that. You can also disconnect the TCU, and just shift it manually to see if it randomly kicks out of gear that way. If it does it then, you may have a bad solonoid. Did you check the fluid properly? Autos need to be checked while running and warmed up.

I checked it running on a flat surface after a 15 min drive, and the fluid looked normal color and full, so I'm going to unplug the TCU and see if that makes a difference. It seems like it does it mostly in OD
