Oil gauge pointing due east - common problem on cluster swap

I put a renix full gauge cluster from a '90 XJ into my '87 MJ, everything works except the oil gauge. I haven't tried to replace the sending unit with a new one (I of course got the 2 used sending units from the XJ) but I have noticed in my searches that a lot of people are having this issue (One guy thought his oil pressure was so high it was off the charts!) :nuts:

 

I think i'm just getting a faulty reading, either bad sending unit, problem in the wiring, or - is the terminal that clips to the old style sending unit compatible with the new version?

 

BTW, anybody want to buy a sending unit socket for the 1-1/8" old version? Paid $10, don't need it anymore...PM me.
