kastein
Careful even when using straps with no hooks on them, a friend of mine on NAXJA had one go right through the fiberglass hatch on the XJ pulling her rig out of the mud. A strap can store a hell of a lot of energy, a wet one will store even more! Also, might just be me, but attaching to the axle on the towing vehicle might not be bad, since it's actually closer to where the force is being applied to the ground (i.e. only the axle is handling the force rather than the springs and body as well.) Attaching to the axle on the stuck vehicle is still a terrible idea though, especially if it's to the axle that is not stuck.
Bounty Hunter
It's just you, NEVER attach a strap to an axle on the recovery rig. It's a good way to have said axle part with the rest of the jeep.
