87Chief
Hello everyone, I've been searching and I thought I saved the link in my favorites, but I guess not... Anyway... Anyone have the link to change the mileage on a different gauge cluster going into the Comanche?? I checked with my friend's dad who is a state trooper and he said it's fine to change as long as it's the same amount of mileage in SC.. Thanks! kyleag89
There should be I think 3 phillips screws on the back and you can remove your whole odom. assembly. Then just put your old one in its place so you don't have to roll any miles. I had this problem too, seeing as how all the XJs in the JY have well over 200K

gl1200aman
By law it is illegal to alter the odometer reading of a vehicle but you can changeout an odometer and as the trooper said, with the same mileage. Reallity is that with a vehicle that old most do not question it. Supposedly, if you turn/alter the numbers on the odometer they will not line up. Similar to when the older ones maxed out and tuned over to 0000000.
jeepcoma
Supposedly, if you turn/alter the numbers on the odometer they will not line up. Similar to when the older ones maxed out and tuned over to 0000000. Didn't happen on my '91 odo. The whole assembly comes right out and each number freewheels but for a particular spot where it's keyed, sort of like lock tumblers. It's easy to make a mess out of things, but it can all be reset back to 00000000 and then incremented to whatever number you want.
