I am removing the factory flares on my '88 MJ and have broken a few of the studs. Are they the same as the XJ? I mean the entire flare. I can always weld studs back on,but I think I want to get some white flares and make it more color coordinated. Thanks

The fronts are the same. The rears are entirely different, and the backing plates likewise are different.

ALL of my fender flare nuts were seized, braking off the stud with them. I was able to carefull drill what was left of them them out using a drill press and replaced the hardware with nuts, lockwashers and bolts.

I suggest using galvanized or stainless steel hardware.

During CFC I got lucky and found a pristine '96 XJ in the yard. I was able to remove all the nuts on the front without breaking any. I think the hardware changed in '97.
