Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here but I believe that is just a vent hose like this one (lower left corner)

I think the blue valve/screen is the end of the t-case vent and/or something similar is a vent for the punkin'

wrong area of the engine bay...that's the vacuum operated 4wd indicator.

the hose coming from the differential goes up near the brake booster. it is a vent hose.

Where by the booster? Is it a crazy spot to get to.

If you leave it off, you have potential to introduce water and sand/mud into it because its under the truck, and its a work truck. Don't cap it because that's how the axle breathes when heating and cooling with use.

You cap that thing off, and the pressure will start blowing out all of your axle seals. Happens to the dump trucks at work all the time when the vents get caked with mud.

Is it really that hard to put the line back on?

I'm at my computer now....here's a pic of it after i drove like 1000 miles today before noticing it. i just zip tied it up........and automan, i don't know where it goes...ive been looking for a while. i know....its somewhere stupidly obvious, but i can't find it...... :dunno:

That is your axle vent. Trace it, and it will lead to the axle. That little white thing is where the vent cap was. There should be a little white hat thing on the end of that to protect it from contaminants. Go look under the rear and find that one, trace it to the end, and you will see what I am talking about.

Looks like it "goes" right where you got it. Or anywhere else that you zip tie it to (keep it high out of the water).

The white plastic thing is a vent cover, keeps crap out of the line. Just make sure that it is hooked at the Diff. kept high up, and youll be good to go. Did the other (diff) end come loose? Is there a possibility of fluid contamination?
