4.0L head differences?

i have buddy that can get a 4.0L head and manifold for like $50 and its from a 2002. the queston i have is would it be the same as a 97? also would either manifold work on my MJ?

The later '99 & up 4.0 heads have been known to crack and have smaller ports but the intake alone is worth $50 guys like the later intakes because they make a little more HP. The best 4.0 head is casting number 957120 used from 1991-1995.

2000-01 uses the 0331 casting (the one thats known to crack)

1996-99 uses the 0630 casting

 

I would be a little suspesious of someone selling a 2000+ head unless its from a wrecked jeep its probably cracked but the intake would be worth it.

how about the manifolds? will either the 02 or 97 work on my 89 MJ?

The manifold will only work on HO 4.0's but if you could get it cheap you could make a little money on ebay with it. :D
