Geonovast
Your oil pan gasket should be reuseable. No chance you installed it backwards? Was the pan damaged at all?
Pete M
I dropped the pan 5 times before the RMS in my 88 was cured. make sure you're adding sealant in the right spots on the oil pan and that the sealant has time to cure before you fire up the truck. centralnc
I am planning to try my luck at replacing the RMS again this evening. I am going to use a Napa RMS this time. I have a question about the blue Felpro gasket. Should I attempt to reuse the gasket or should I buy a new one? I am worried that the RTV sealant I applied at the corners might not clean off. It typically adheres to the rubber gasket pretty tight. Would you guys re-use the 2 week old gasket or buy a new one? It is such a PITA to drop the oil pans that the cost of the gasket ~$20 doesn't seem significant vs. having to replace it. Thoughts?
Geonovast
I've reused them, just peeled off whatever RTV I could and applied a little bit more.
ComancheKrazy
This rms sounds like it's gonna be fun for me to replace. Luckily I'll be pulling the engine and doing it out of the truck. I can't wait till I start workin on the ol' jeep. Mine has a small small leak, the front of my oil pan has a little bit of a larger leak, along with the power steering leak, on top of that my rear differential is starting to leak. :wall: This jeep likes to mark it's territory.
