airspeed Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 There are two alignment bushing/sleeves in the back of the engine block that align the bell-housing to the block. I went to remove one with a pair of pliers and it just crumbled, now what do I do? How important are these? Where might a person find a replacement?
Geonovast Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I've put a few motors/transmissions in that were missing one or both of them, never had a problem. Seems like they just make installation easier.
Eagle Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Not sure if a dealer would still be able to get that part for you or not, but I would NOT install a tranny without it. Auto or manual, I can foresee all sorts of long-term problems that could grow out of a slight misalignment. Remember, Detroit counts pennies. They do NOT put anything into a motor vehicle that they don't think is absolutely necessary.
