He rebuilt it an 20 K later the the engine blew. so...I'm going to look at it today. Is there anything obvoius I should be looking for that would tell me whether I'm looking at a decent tranny...or not. It's off of an 88 XJ 4.0. I have an 88 MJ 4.0
jimoshel Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 To the best of my knowledge there is no way to test a auto other than drive it.If there is I would certainly like to hear about it. Maybe AAMCO has a way. Might ask, keeping in mind they're in business to sell, rebuild trannys.
Geonovast Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 From what I have read, mostly here on CC, AW-4s are hard to trust with rebuilds. The clearances are so tight and specific, it's hard to get it into factory spec. AX-15s, however... :D
