Newbie with transmission problem

Recommended Posts

I have an 88 automatic 4l 4wd that is not getting power to the transmission computer. The set up does not match the wiring diagrams from chrysler or mitchell. I need the amc wiring diagram. It is in the best transmission shop in town and he has about given up. I went online ready to buy a factory manual found your site and I sure hope some one can help.

Thanks for all the information, I sure could of used it when the crank shaft sensor went out. My mechanic needs an amc wiring diagram for the tranismission computer with wire colors etc. There is no power on the computer. bbe

The wiring diag. is probably in the zip file for the 88FSM on Greatlakes. (I'm not sure as I have the files all seperated out on a flash drive.)

Your mechanic did check the fuse for the tranny computer, didn't he? It should be on the harness very near the tranny computer.

Back on the road again. I found a TCU on E-pay, bid $100 was the only bidder and got it for $10.36 delivered. Plugged it in and off and running. bbe

Next time you need electronics let me know, I hit the junkyard quite often and can usually find stuff for cheap. There is an 88 in the JY I go to right now, the TCU would have cost ten bucks.

I don't charge extra, you pay what I pay plus shipping. The only catch is that I get busy at work randomly and it may take me a while to find what you need.
