tugalo
88 MJ, peugeout tranny......has anyone pulled their gear shift to service the tranny from the top? If so, how do I go about it? Anything to watch out for?
jimoshel
The tranny is a two section thing. The gear box itself contains all the gears. Maybe thats why it's referred to as the gear section. The shifting unit is bolted on behind the gear unit.Removing the shift lever, shift lever cover won't gain you anything.Altho it will make it easier to fill with lube if you don't have a gun to fill from underneath. Geonovast
What do you need to do to the trans? If you're filling with fluid, yes you can fill through the shifter hole. Anything else, however, can be easily done by removing your transmission, throwing it away, and buying yourself an AX-15. It is not worth putting any money into that transmission other than new fluid.
