comanche09
They brought back the pressure bottle when they came out with the Libertine. It's really a good system -- if the "radiator" cap isn't made of plastic. Yeah, but they went back to open bottle per my 08 KK... :clapping: Wish they would make up their minds... :shake:
88SporTruck
Just a quick update! I put the rims and tires from my wifes old 90 Dakota on the Comanche today to replace the dryrotted old studded snow tires on it. They bolt right up. Some fresh gas got her running nice and smooth and I took her for a short ride. It was great! Just one question tho....When I had the rear wheels off I removed the drums to check things out. It all looks great inside and the shoes are barely worn but with the drum removed you can press the brake pedal and nothing moves at all in the rear brakes. (the fronts work fine) There is a valve mounted above the rear axle with a rod connected to the diff cover bolts that appears to change the amount of rear braking force depending on the amount of weight in the bed. Could this valve have gone bad? Can it be bypassed? I have never seen this type of brake valve on any other trucks before.
mvusse
I'm guessing the rear line rotted through somewhere and it was "fixed" by pinching the line shut.
88SporTruck
nope. all the hard lines look great with most of them being completely rust free! I'm thinking that a previous owner replaced them.
Wildman
You asking about the rear height sensing proportioning valve??? That could be your problem with the drum brakes not 'moving' or working. There are no parts available to re-build the valve, and most of us have just removed the valve, re-plumbed the hard lines to one rear supply line. Here's a couple of links for you to follow up on the repair/replacement- viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13434 http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4917
88SporTruck
yeah thats it. I was unsure on the name of the valve. I'm just gonna remove it and be done with it. thanks for the link!
