its too hot

there is a ton of heat coming from my trans i have the small console and there a hole in the front(its supposed to be there) can i block this off to stop the heat?

my manual get damn hot to.

ive got holes in fron tof the console but theyre blocked by black metal shields..? to get the shifter out ive got to take off two metal shields, and a rubber boot. (and the console of course.)

 

thats what I'm assuming is missing.
