Xacto
I need to replace my clutch MC and I went to the dealer for the part because of many folks saying that aftermarket MCs don't last very long. The parts guy looked up the info and asked if I wanted the "long shaft" or "short shaft" version....he then informs me that the short shaft version is the only one available now. He had no other info regarding model years and options to differentiate between the two either. I did a google search on both part numbers and the Rock Auto catalog shows the short shaft (part #53004466) as a Wrangler part and the long shaft (part# 53004467) as an XJ/MJ part. Does anyone know if this short version is the one that would work for an 89 4.0...BA-10 if it matters? He would have to order the part so I couldn't measure and compare to what I have now. Thanks! Oizarod115
if you can find it elsewhere and need one bad i'd say get it, i got a bendix piece from autozone years ago i think i've put 25-30k on it since then, it may not go 175 like the original one did but it works fine now. Xacto
After some more searching, it appears that the part they could get was the Wrangler version and the one I needed is the one that isn't available, at least not according to the dealer I went to. I just ordered the Bendix part and with my 3-5k per year useage I should be good for a while hopefully. Thanks for the info!
akamcbird
what would be affected by using the short shaft? seems like i gotta push the peddle half way down or so b4 the clutch engages. did that since i got it and after changing the clutch and internal slave. akamcbird
yes... sorry disengage but really both, the pedal only does something (in or out) inside about an inch of pedal movement, somewere in the middle of the full movement of the pedal.
