sufidancer
Hello fellow MJ-ers, I finally got my MJ back on the road after a month of trying to find a torque converter. :headpop: I have a TF 904 3 speed automatic with a stock NP229 that is shot to hell Does anyone know if a Dana 300 bolt up ok with a TF904 automatic? The Dana is 23 spline and the stock 229 is 23 spline. But I was wondering if there are any issues with getting a Dana 300 TC to fit my truck. reson46
Yes, the D300 shares the same round bolt pattern as the NP transfer cases. You do realize the D300 has a passenger side front output? Unless you flip it or swap in a matching front axle it will not work in an MJ. Willy
sufidancer
Thanks for the info and reply, I found the quandry after I pulled the trigger for a Dana 300. crap. Nothing is ever easy when you start switching $#!& around. :fs1: I am going to research a work around. A cheap work around if I can manage it. I seen a flip kit going for to much money. five hunnert is to much. Then there is the Novak flip ring. I will look into that...my luck that will be just as much. If anyone knows a tried and true way to flip a dana 300 feel free to pipe in. Thanks.
jpdocdave
the d300 is one of the strongest t cases around, a couple are stronger, but also a lot bigger. its a great jeep t case. all cast iron, gear driven, and simple. you won't ever have a problem with it. it can be twin sticked also. if you are going to wheel with it you may wanna drop the dough on a 4:1 gear set. it is a hair higher gear than the np231. somewhere around 2.7:1 if i remember right. there are people that are flipping them without buying kits at all for next to no money. search the web you should be able to do it yourself.
