88pioneer
cherokee leafs are shorter than comanche leafs, and cherokees are spring over instead of spring under like the comanche. So you would either have to find another leaf from a comanche, or resort to buying a new one
Automan2164
You HAVE to re-weld the perches. You can stretch them to somewhat bolt on, but don't even try. Rob L.
buddy208
what about the shock mounts
Pete M
The comanche can't really use the XJ shock mounts (wrong location and orientation). You'll need to slice them off and add your own.
CWLONGSHOT
So to summarize, YES you can use the XJ axle in a MJ. You MUST have and weld on new perches. REGUARDLESS of orientation. (SUA/SOA) I recommend factory MOPAR perches. CHEAP and very stout!! You will have to chop off XJ shock mounts and add new mounts. Available from numerous suppliers. Rubicon express makes a nice "universal" mount. I have made a bunch for myself and a couple guys on here. I used a "HELP" rack mount and some scrap steel. Check out my build thread for pics and descriptions. As you have found XL and MJ leafs are different and not interchangeable. So keep/find a set from the MJ. GOOD LUCK!!
