88pioneer
I'm currently rebuilding an 88 pioneer and i am having some trouble getting the bed off. I have all the lights disconnected and the fuel hoses. I also have the exhaust disconnected and all the bed mounting bolts except one. My main problem is the brake line bracket is rusted to the old bed, and i can't get them out even with an impact wrench. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas, or has had this problem? Geonovast
You mean the E-brake cable bracket? Last time I removed one of those, 2 of the 3 bolts broke off. I had to use a breakerbar with a pipe to get them out. A good thing you can do it soak the hell out of them with PB blaster every couple hours for a day, let it dry, then heat up the area around the bolt with a propane torch, then try to pull them out. 88pioneer
yea, i guess its the e brake cable. i got one of the bolts out, but the others won't move. i'll give that a shot though, i got some of the bolts out of the door by heating them so hopefully that will work. thanks for the idea
Red 1989 MJ
You could leave the PB work a couple days and retry. You could heat the bolt. You could also drill it and make new thread.
88pioneer
Yea a drill might be the result, because i'm to the point where i want the bed off, and i can deal with the smaller things later
