Redbird Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Looks like a little oil is leaking from underneath the distributor cap on my 89 MJ 4.0 where it connects to the engine. Looks like it's a little rubber seal but I had it replaced and it still leaks. Any suggestions?
Akula69 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 IMHO, the distributor is not a 'normal' place for the 4.0 to leak (if I can say such a thing). I would suggest that the small 'O' ring on the shaft is leaking....could it have been nicked when it was being installed?
sinkrun Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The dist on my 4.0 was leaking quite bad but it was actualy loose. I tightened it and the leak was still there. Check the thin gasket for the block base area along with the O ring.
