i have an 88 with I think what you call the BA 10/5 manual tranny.

If I have problems with it, what is an easy automatic swap? What about another 5 speed?

 

I'm not a mechanic but have gotten pretty good at changing parts and rarely have to hire someone to do anything, especially with boards like this.

There's a thread in the DIY forum about replacing the Peugeot BA-10/5. For auto there's the AW-4, for a stick, the choices are the AX-15 and the NV3500 (newer than the AX-15 and more expensive to acquire).
