HOrnbrod Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Quick question: Anyone ever remove the hood release cable from where it terminates at the bellcrank under the hood w/o drilling out the rivets and removing the bellcrank? Is it possible? :dunno: :dunno:
Wildman Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Do you mean just the cable??? It just has an S shape on the end of the cable that "hooks" into the lever. You shouldn't need to remove the rivet to get the cable off.
maddzz1 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I did it Don, on my 94XJ. It is a little tricky trying to maneuver the new one back in, not much room between the bracket and the hood. I ended up using a screwdriver to help get the end to pop back in
HOrnbrod Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Yep, I just want to remove/replace the cable. It's real tight under there and I can't see how it hooks up on the bellcrank. FSM is no help either.
maddzz1 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 If I remember you have to turn the cable so that you can push it down to pop it out. There is a space in the bracketso the cable can push down so the metal thing on the end can come loose.
