HOrnbrod
Quick question: Anyone ever remove the hood release cable from where it terminates at the bellcrank under the hood w/o drilling out the rivets and removing the bellcrank? Is it possible? :dunno: :dunno:
Wildman
Do you mean just the cable??? It just has an S shape on the end of the cable that "hooks" into the lever. You shouldn't need to remove the rivet to get the cable off.
maddzz1
I did it Don, on my 94XJ. It is a little tricky trying to maneuver the new one back in, not much room between the bracket and the hood. I ended up using a screwdriver to help get the end to pop back in
HOrnbrod
Yep, I just want to remove/replace the cable. It's real tight under there and I can't see how it hooks up on the bellcrank. FSM is no help either.
maddzz1
If I remember you have to turn the cable so that you can push it down to pop it out. There is a space in the bracketso the cable can push down so the metal thing on the end can come loose.

Thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow.
