creekscout
I would like to know if the original equipment pump is a bosch pump. I took my pump out to replace it and it is a bosch, but the bosch pump I got to replace it with is not the same, so I am wondering if it is the original or not. It was still working ok but since I have the tank off to do bodywork I thought I might as well replace the pump now. Need help finding the right pump. 1992 4.0 auto 4x4 longbed metric ton. Wildman
The Bosch pump was OEM, although there was also a Walbro pump used (that I've never seen yet) you can tell the difference from the sock filter. The Bosch #69302 is the pump your looking for, it was used '87-'92 for the 4.0 engine. The Carter #P74155 is also a direct replacement for the Bosch - http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 55_ANG.jpg Its possible that you received the wrong Bosch pump over the counter, check the model numbers and see what you have. creekscout
the replacement pump I got is a 69302 bosch, but it is not the same as the one in the truck as it has a wire terminal connector that in no way will work on mine. I am calling the jeep dealer to see what they have listed for this truck.
HOrnbrod
the replacement pump I got is a 69302 bosch, but it is not the same as the one in the truck as it has a wire terminal connector that in no way will work on mine. I am calling the jeep dealer to see what they have listed for this truck. That pump worked just fine in my 91, according to my mechanic. I didn't put this one in as I left on a trip had my mechanic do it. I purchased this same pump from NAPA and he said he had no problems putting it in over four years ago. According to NAPA's page there was a VIN change in 92 that might require a different number Bosch pump? I don't know. However, my factory parts manual makes no mention of this and lists all 91-93 XJ and MJ fuel pumps as part number 4637192, about $250 at the dealer. If you do get one at the dealer, please post some pics as to what the difference is.
Wildman
Like I said, there were more than one pump used in the MJ. The Carter and Bosch look like this *note the sock filter* http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 55_ANG.jpg The Walbro pump looks like this = http://info.rockauto.com/Carter/Detail. ... 57_ANG.jpg And the ACDelco Walbro pump- http://198.208.187.182/internet/PartIma ... tnbr=EP373 I have never seen one, and you could have that Walbro pump from OEM :dunno: Also note, the above pumps are in the $100 range, not the "Dealers list price" Or......someone replaced it over the years :hmm:
