merikgvr4
My brothers Manche failed smog, high CO. Previous owner seemed to have replaced cat con. We bought ebay injectors and also replaced 02 sensor. Still high CO. Will replacing the CTS help? If so, any pointers on how to replace the part? TIA for any help. Pete M
Gotcha. I haven't a clue though. No sniffer tests here in Michigan. But we've got a couple guys here who actually worked in that industry so be patient, one of them will eventually reply.
aemsee
If the CTS is causing the truck to run rich, then that might be it. Although that should be causing high HC numbers also. Did they give you the actual failure numbers?
merikgvr4
We go to the same smog guy so he pre runs the car for us. I'll double check with my bro if the HC is also high. Thanks for the replies.
merikgvr4
ordered cts from autozone. is it hard to replace? tight space? Thanks Spokewith my broHigh CO and HC. Any other things to check for what causes this? Thanks. Erick
aemsee
Is the vehicle getting up to full operating temp? Anything that causes the vehicle to run richer than normal will give you high CO and HC. Check for condiditon of vacuum line to MAP sensor. Vacuum leak causes lower vacuum reading which the ECU interprets as a load and richens up the mixture. Also, if the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail is bad, or has bad vacuum getting to it, it can cause higher fuel pressure at idle and richen up the mixture. merikgvr4
Temp goes to normal range. One fo the first things we did was replace thermostat. Will check on the vacuum hoses. Thanks
