Replacing pickup sensor in my distributor?

:???: What is the procedure in replacing the pickup sensor in my 1988 4.0 automatic Comanche?

I started the job but I thought that I'd better ask someone that has done this already before going any further. :dunce:

It's usually just a good idea to replace the whole distributor. They're not that expensive, and then you've got a new dis.

 

I read over instructions for replacing the CMPS. Didn't look fun.

 

Why, specifically, does it need to be replaced?

:driving: Just got done test driving my 1988 Comanche after replacing the distributor electronic pickup sensor.

The procedure off the link Wildman sent was very easy to follow. :thumbsup:
