Aftermarket Seats in an Mj

Recommended Posts

I have a driver side Mastercraft Baja RS seat in my MJ. My buddy just made it work with his welder and some angle iron.

On the first attempt, the rear of the seat was sitting a little high because of the way the MJ sliders are. Then he took the sliders off and cut some metal so that the seat would sit flat.

Corbeau actually has adapters specifically for the MJ. But they are a little pricey.

Anyone ever mount aftermarket seats similar to Mastercraft or corbeaus in an mj?

something simlar to these--

No experience with those seats but a fabricated mounts for sparco seats. Took some inginuity but they work great. Those seats look awesome btw  How much?

The corbeaus run about 275-300 a piece last time i checked, the only reason I'm asking this is because i'm sort of a big guy 6'3 300, i don't want it to be a tight fit.

Corbeau is your only option then, as these seats are bought based on your waist diameter. They are the only ones offering "plus" sized seats. Most makers stop seats @ 36-38" diameter waist sizes. I had a 38" waist when I purchased my Cordeau SS seats. These fit in the TJ, but not with allot of extra room. They touch the door AND the center console.

No offence, but seats large enough to fit you, likely will not even fit in a MJ, width wise.

I sat in a few similar style seats at the offroad expo last fall and i seemed to fit fine in the seats themselves, i think my real issue would be to get them to go back far enough for the length of my legs. I was looking at the PRP daily driver with the tilted headrest to fit better in a small cab. I really don't want to spend a ton of money on something that in the end won't work right.

  • 4 years later...

I picked up a set of Mastercrafts from a buddy for cheap but we found that the transmission hump was too wide and the seats barely fit at stock height. Normally I would just raise the seats but I'm 6'4" and didn't like my head in the clouds. Next option was to beat the the transmission hump in but we swapped the BA 10 with a AX-15 that barely fit. So I just went and yanked some seats out of a XJ and swapped seat brackets. Would post pictures but I am still trying to figure out how to do that haha
