dimmer switch rod

ok, I'm just about done with my wobbly steering column fix. I'm putting everything back together and I don't remember or didn't see how the dimmer switch rod ties into anything. Does it just sit there and something hits it when everything is back together or am I missing something?

Are you referring to the rod that switches from headlights to brights?

I think so. It has a curve right around the dimmer switch area and runs down the steering column toward the floor.

 

I can't tell where it really ties into anything and wasn't able to see how it came apart.
