what axles came in a 87 jeep comanche

Hey i was thinking about replace in diff fluid in my front and rear dif i was just wondering what axles came in them so i can get the right gaskets and maybe for curiousity what gearing is in it. Its a 87 4.0 4x4 5 speed all stock any help would be great

Your front will be a Dana 30, and your rear is probably a Dana 35. Your gearing should be 3.07:1.

 

None of that is 100% for sure, because Jeep did weird things sometimes and POs may have changed them.

it helps any, I have an '88, same setup. With exactly that. Even counted the teeth to make sure.

Scroll down to find yournumber code and match it. 95% sure what the tag says, thats what you got.

it could have a dana 44 rear though, however unlikely.

Your front will be the Dana 30 if the truck is stock.

This picture will help you identify your rear. If it's stock, it'll either be the D35 or D44.

wells its too dark to do it now ill try to take pics of the axles tommorrow have to see with work and school but it looks like the difference between the 35 and 44 is the notch in the diff cover so i can see if my rear has that but ill also try to post pics

It's pretty easy, if it's a symmetrical oval, it's a 35. If it's bigger on one side than the other it's a 44.

Another way to check is if it breaks when you look at it, it's a Dana 35.
