I think we need a complete DIY AC section.

Recommended Posts

Ok guys I think a lot of our members would like to see a complete write up on installing AC in a non AC MJ seems like every year during the hot summer this topic comes up a lot. I could do a write up on the dash removal, installing the AC box, condenser etc the easy stuff. But what about the wiring? is all the connections already there and not being used? What about hooking up a relay to the compressor? also the signal to the computer? again maybe there but just not being used? etc how difficult is all this? I was going to pulled the harness out of the junker but it looked like a PIA.

Is there any AC Gurus here? I would like to get mine going.

Another topic that should be discussed is how to diagnose and fix AC problems. Now that it is warm out I can tell there is no difference between fan, AC, and Max AC. Where to start? What to fix/check?

I got to fix mine too. Start with the easy stuff first making sure getting power to compressor through low/high pressure switch on dryer. Jumped across terminals and compressor kicked on, no froze compressor :clapping: so hopefully just low on charge. Now to decide if to spend big $ on R12 or convert to R134a.
