tranny gear ratio

what was the stock tranny for the 87' MJ, I have the 5 speed. I'm looking for the gear ratios of it, and the gear ratio of the 231 transfer case,( I think it is 272 to 1 low range?) . with 4:56 gearing on 35' tires, I'm trying to figure out my crawl ratio is.

Which motor?

 

If you have the 4.0, then your trans is a peugoet BA 10/5.

1 - 3.39

2 - 2.33

3 - 1.44

4 - 1

5 - 0.79

R - 3.25

 

If you have the 2.5, then you'll have an Aisin AX-5

1 - 3.93

2 - 2.33

3 - 1.45

4 - 1

5 - 0.85

R - 4.74

 

If you have the 4.0 your crawl ratio is 42.04:1

If you have the 2.5 your crawl ratio is 48.75:1

thanks, I have the 4.0 . it's pretty low, I was just curious as to what the ratio was. I don't use 1st gear on the street, as it is too low, and offroading I use 4 low and 1st gear, and just idle over most of the obstacles. thanks again, Bear
