1989 Comanche Pioneer... first MJ

Recommended Posts

i love those wheels i can't wate to get a set

I do too, only problem is I'm the 3rd known MJ in Houston with the same wheels and tires and doing the same newer body style, so I have a set of brand new, still in the box, flat black Mickey Thompson Classic II Signature Series that I was going to put on my TJ before I had to get rid of it, and so if I don't get another TJ or LJ to DD then I'm going to put the wheels on the MJ with some 32" tires

EDIT: 4th known MJ in Houston with same wheel and body setup

Well got everything tightened up on the suspension, drove it around the neighborhood, no shaking, vibrations, or DW. Also added a brand new set of 31/10.50/15 BFG ATs, I got as part of a trade for an old Grand Wagoneer I had. I'm gonna change the wheels eventually, I jus got the wheels with the tires so I havent been able to swap them for anythin else yet.

On a different note, I got everything together to swap the new front end and doors, and a cleaner bed together, then my friend wrecked her 98 XJ. And me being a good friend, I helped her out and gave her my passenger fender, header panel, and bumper. I jus figured she needed it more than I do at the time. So I need to go find another header panel and fender, I can get the bumper from my buddies xj that he rolled a year ago and is gonna build a trail buggy out of.

Then I got rid of the 31s and star rims and replaced them with rubi rims, but tires were too big and bald, so I went ahead and put my TJs factory ravines and 31s on until I got new tires for the rubis

Some of you are thinking, why remove the bed, well thanks to boilermaker for the heads up I got a perfect straight bed with only a small dent or 2,

Installed the bed, also got a little carried away with the rattle can primer,

After that the truck was put on hold for a while, I was pretty busy with school and work, but it wasnt long before I was at it again,

I had an extra set of 33/12.50/15 Pro Comp MTs on Cragar Soft 8s from my TJ, so I put them on, but of course I rubbed in the front, but didnt look bad at all

I then got a set od used BFG ATs for my Rubi Wheels

Also installed a pristine tailgate at the local pick a part that was too nice to pass up

Soon after that I bought a real set of tires, 265/75/16 BFG MT KM2s,

Looks good dude jamminz.gif

you have helped me decide on my tyre size

Thanks man, yea ive had so many different wheel and tire applications on this truck, my key factor was trying to figure out what lift height I wanted and would be easily attainable, So I'm sticking with 4-5 in with 265/75/16, which is roughly a 32in tire, 33s wouldve worked but it wouldve rubbed and I wouldnt been able to get much flex, so I'm sticking with what I have for now, who knows whatll happen in the future

Not much to update, I was adjusting my tailgate to close better, and ended up snapping the bolt that holds the tailgate strape, got one from a member here, drilled out the old one and replaced it. Also got a a pair of XJ shackles to level the rear end with the front. also installed my factory rear bumper along with the hitch. As for the interior Ive installed my black headliner and a pair of black sunvisors pulled from an 86 XJ with black interior at the pick-n-pull. Also installed a pair of bucket seats and center console. Only have pics of the bumper and the truck leveled out. Will post better pics of the soon.

Yea thats what happens when you own more than one jeep and you work at a tire shop haha, I have 6 different rim setups, and 2 different tire setups, but I can get new tires at a decent price if I really need to, but I think I'm going to stick with the moabs or a couple other choices I have depending on the color scheme I'm going with

I'm sitting at roughly 4.5in of lift with 265/75/16 or 32" tires, I originally was going to go all out and do the 6in long arm lift on 33s or 35s, but I don't need that much lift for what I'm gonna use the truck for,
