garmj
I am in Florida and work for a used car dealer. We took a 1994 Nissan Sentra on trade, cleaned up and sold it to a visitor from NY who intends on taking it back home. The car when we got it had a new headliner but the sun visors were missing they even covered the holes. The guy pays for the car, leaves and comes back the next day stating the visors are missing and NY won't pass it on inspection because of the visors (a safety issue?) don't they sell sunglasses up there? I can understand lights, brakes ,steering etc. but sunvisors? Have any of you heard of this? :dunno:
Wildman
Well......this is NY state  I don't think the sun visors is an issue. I think he notice it after the fact.......and is feeding you a line ;) We do have a "seat belt" check up here, the seat belts in the front seat must be functional. And the parking brake (emergency) must work, and hold the vehicle. And any "box" truck over 8'-6" to 18' must have a cross view rear mirror......or back up camera, aka the "UPS law" :rotfl2: But the sun visor "rule" :dunno: We do have a 'few' convertibles up here (for the few warm, sunny days).......and I don't know what they do for the sun visors. Give the guy a pair of Sunny Florida 'blue blockers' and call it good :D The good thing is.........the car is pre '96, so there is no emission test required on it. BLHTAZ
I agree with Wildman that he is feeding you a line of BS. I have not lived in NY, but I have lived in states where inspections where required and have never heard of such a thing... Visors are useless and should not even be in a vehicle IMO. garmj
Thats what I thought. This clown is trying to play us for whatever he can get. The naive salesman buys into all his BS, I called the guy in on this today and told him I wanted the NY statue stating the regs on sunvisors. Then he said he didnt want to look it up but would be willing to pay for them if we could get them for him. :rotfl2: PEOPLE!!!
