quadratec coolant bottle

So looks like my overheating episode in Uwharrie has fatally wounded my coolant pressure bottle. I just ordered the quadratec one, any experience. It was cheap, I'm sure it's made in China, but I'm planning on doing a new radiator anyway, so it only needs to last until I convert it to the open system. Came with the cap though. Dealer wanted $57 and another 15 for the cap.

yeah, i paid the stealership their 57. but i didnt need the cap, ive been through 3, luckily i only bought one. other two came with the truck.

I have used the Q-tec one.. no issues. As for the dealer.. they list for 16, but they charge private individuals out the roof for the part. Become buddy buddy with a manager from amn auto parts store/ or garage, and watch how much cheaper you stealership stuff becomes

oh yeah, I figured that.

When I got two different price quotes, from two dealers 30 miles apart.

My bottle has not failed completely, but it's got some severe cracking on the top from the major overheat on the trail.

you'll know its bad when you get weird residue on the right bottom corner of the windshielf and can never figure it out... DOH!

i wish i could become friends with someone lol, 17 yrs old is a lil young to hang out with the stealership guys.

got it in today, not bad, I ordered it friday. Was going to spring for overnight shipping until it said $40.

Went normal ground, ot it in 2 business days, total cost of $27.

It's a Crown Auto part.

P/N is 758977K If someone can find it cheaper.

Seems to be made of thicker plastic than the one in the truck, I don't know if it's OEM or not.

Has a nice metal sleeve in the upper return line so it doesn't collapse

Has a metal threaded insert in the top, the one in the truck has a plastic insert in the same location, anyone know what that's for?

oh, and the cap is taller and has better grips, so I can open it with a gloved hand. I'll bne putting it in tonight. I've danced enough with fate on the old cracked one.

my oem one has the metal in the return line, don't know about the metal insert. don't know what you're referin to, never looked at it that much.

i get my factory parts pretty cheap if from the dealership!...kinda helps that they sponsor the club I'm in and i worked there at one time..

well I put it in last night. Works as expected. I didn't realize how bulged out of shape my old one had become. I was going to keep it for a trail spare but I don't even think it's worth that, I'll just order another q-tec one to keep on hand.
