Windowsrookie
Does anyone know the size of the bolt that mounts the bottom of the power steering pump to the bracket? While underneath the Comanche today I noticed that bolt was missing. Also, is the adjusting bolt supposed to sit flush against the bracket, or stick out? It's sticking out about a 1/4" but it did not seem loose.
Whamm
I'm not sure of the bolt size, but I vaguely remember using a 1/2 socket to remove it. :dunno: On mine the tensioner bolt sits flush when everything is tightened down. Try losening the bolts in the back of the pump and see if it moves. I have the 2.5 but i think the brackets are the same.
mvusse
Yes, the tensioner bolt is supposed to fit flush. But if you back off the bolt without loosening the other four bolts to allow the pump to move (three in your case) the bolt will just back out. Don't know if the bolt is metric or not. Pump on my Comanche seems to have a mixture of metric and US, but don't know if they are all original. Don't know about the Cherokee.
