Tempature Sending unit Problem

Ok so i purchased a new head but i have ran into a problem. The is no hole for the Temp sending unit. :fs1: :fs1: (Yes, I will be calling the company I purchased the head from and letting them hear about this and give them a chance to make it right or its :rotfl2: )

But my question is can drill and tap the screw thats in the theromstat housing. This screw has nothing connected to it and I am not even sure of its purpose (other than maybe flushing purposes). Or is there somewhere else that i could mount it.

 

Point is I don't want to remove the head again. :ack:
