3'' Skyjacker lift

God Bless them, my whole family chipped in and for Christmas I got a 3'' skyjacker lift. Now I am wanting some 31x10.50 BFGs AT or MT. Will I need to do anything to the gearing of my MJ. It is an 89 automatic 4x4. This is a daily driver that will not see rough trails, maybe a walk in the woods from time to time. As always all advice is appreciated. Thanks Shane

I have an '89 swb 4x4 with 31s. Prior to regearing, I had 3.55s. Now I'm running 4.10s. World of difference. It felt like I was dragging an anchor with the 3.55s. Based on my personal experience, I recommend 4.10s.

You will not "need" to change the gears, but depending on what you do with it, you may want to. I have 31" Swampers on mine with 3.07 gears and while it is a bit sluggish to say the least, it is a street truck only so I have not worried with it. It is slow on take off and only gets about 15-16 MPG on average.

 

For what you describe the use of the truck to be...you should be fine with what you have.
