flint54
Ok, just how do you UN spot weld something, without tearing the metal? I'm replacing the drivers front seat support stamping, and, in addition to the rivet, there are two large spot welds per pad. Chiseling is causing cracks, and it seems that drilling these would leave not much material left.
BLHTAZ
Drilling is the only way I have ever known/heard of, but I am not real familiar with exactly what you are doing so my advice is not particularly dependable here. ;)
HellCreek
Search eBay for "spot weld cutter". They are special step drills that cut the upper layer of sheet metal and leave the bottom layer to weld to later. I bought a set, and they work great. I used this link to guide me through my recent seat replacement, but fortunately didn't need to modify the brackets at all.
