they will swap but you need to put the 97+ striker plate in as well, it is different diameter and has 2 contact points instead of one. I'm not positive, but you may need to mount the striker in a different place as well.

One of the points of the two point striker matches up with the factory single striker. Also, the hinges are a little different, spacing is funky. I would recommend getting all new hinges for the 97+ doors, cutting off the old ones and welding the new ones on. I haven't atually done the swap yet, but I have spent hours measuring.
