  1. Anyone know torque specs on the following: Timing chain cover Oil Pan valve cover Got some fel-pro gaskets and hope to get these installed this weekend. I think the Valve cover is 55 inch pounds,... Also replacing the harmonic balancer and chain cover, I'll get the puller tool for the balancer. Anything special I need to know or look out for on this job? I'm not going to mess up the timing am I?
  2. Do I need to buy a dedicated gasket if I'm going to be dropping the belly pan, or can I RTV it?
  3. This is a diagram of the size, type and location of the oil pan fasteners for the 4.0L six. Remember that the photo is of the top of the oil pan flange. When you are lying under the truck the sides will be reversed. http://i.imgur.com/pXj2PvI.png
  4. It looks like I need to remove my oil pan. I have seen several posts implying there may be a clearance issue in getting the pan off if the truck still has original suspension height. One post had mentioned a method to do it, but now I can't find the post. I know to raise the truck and support it by the frame and let the axle hang down, what else do I have to do? Thanks for any guidance.
  5. Does anyone have part nos. for the RMS with the double lip and for the one piece oil pan gasket. I' m almost ready to replace the RMS and have the oil pan off and cleaned up, just need to scrape the bottom of the block to get the rest of 2 pounds of gasket sealer the PO used when he replaced the gasket. I definitely want to use the double lip seal as my truck has 200 K miles on it (at least, speedo cable was missing when I got it). I've heard good and bad reports on the one piece oil pan gasket (more good than bad). If you have used it, please let me know what your experience was. Does it seal up better? How hard/easy is it to install? Etc. I have plenty of room to get the pan back on, even with the oil pump installed, so clearance and bumping it out of place shouldn't be a problem.
