  3. Ok i need info on the electrical i want to make the 2.5 a stand alone, i have all my plugs for fuel and the ECM but here is where I'm lost, getting power to the ECM so every thing will work i can't find a diagram to show whats hot and whats not any help would be nice.
  4. the u joints are new, with the truck on the lift the drive shalft is jammed into the back of the trans, with it on the ground i only had a 8th inch to get the shalft in. I do know i need motor mounts and a trans mount but the truck acts like its binding and makes noise but if it is binding how would i fix it? is it becouse the wheels are not center if i put weight in the truck it rolls better but, would redoing the lift fix it or is tires not center in wheel well going to happen on all lifts?
  5. I have a problem, my 86 lwb has a 2 inch BB lift in the front and a set of helper springs in the rear the guy put the helper on the back of the spring and clamped it in to get the lift needed. the truck rides bad and over the tire roar i hear another roar the axle is not center in the wheel well and the drive shaft is very hard to get in and out, while driving with no load and very low speed the truck acts ok i guess, but under load and hwy speed the truck acts like its fighting its self rolls hard and makes lots of noise over the tires how do i check pinion angle? and i was thinking of the 4 inch rustys springs to replace the junk set up i have or would i still be in the same boat on angles and the wheel's not being centered sorry i have limited info and no pics but i need the truck as a dd and removing the lift completely is not a option but thanks on any info.
  6. Whell i had my fun today, I had to move my 86 MJ parts truck with my other 86 MJ. I normally use a pull strap and a friend, but it is snowing out and the parts truck has no power, no wipers etc. So i go and buy a tow bar, the idea is bolt it to the bumper and tow it. Diddent work that way, one i checked the bumper for sturdyness and in the process it fell off  so now with the bumper on the ground how do i move it now?? So now i'm looking at that thin piece of metal between the frame rails  and yes i knew better but i went with it. so now i'm drilling holes and bolting it up but the tow bar was off center becouse of the steering box was in my way to get it center. Now my delimma is a very weak hook point and a rear bumper thats in bad shape and the angle on the tow bar is all off and yes i rolled with it. the good thing is it made it with no problems other then only being able to drive at 10 mph becouse the towed MJ was not correcting right and was pushing my rearend one way then the other wild ride but thought i would share my story and i do not recomend or suggest any un-safe acts in towing or moving auto's if all possible do it safe and wait for the best weather possible and be safe. sorry i diddent take picks
  7. I own a 86 mj and just swaped in a 4 speed behind the 2.8 but just a helpfull hint for the clutch master their is 5 little dents next to the brake booster drill the center hole out with a 1.50 inch hole saw or 38 mm the other holes are for just the bolts and good luck
  8. Thanks for the 0.2 cents ill check the gears and go from their.
  9. Guess what i found, a Dana 44 with the metric ton springs and the height sensing brake valve. I diddent get a year off the truck and diddent notice what it had till i came back to the yard to get more parts off of it. but here is the question, whats a good price to pay for it and is it worth getting when my truck is mostly stock and only dose light wheeling but let me know what yall think.
  10. Whell the good old TQ 904 automatic in the 86 mj has died  I hate auto's and i want to make it a 5 speed, I was wanting to know if i used a T-5 manual out of a S10 and T-case, would it fit since the 2.8 is chevy. I know i need the pedels out of a comanche, and the rest of the parts off of the S10. but other then trans mount problems and drive shaft diffrences is their anything els i'm missing? any info helps thanks. and yes both trucks are 4x4 the s10 and comanche.
