  1. I know valve train is the norm, but it sounds like an exhaust leak. Maybe ill go get some lucas and dump that in during this next oil change.
  2. so the motor started making a noise that kinda mimics an exhaust leak, then I was thinking maybe a burnt valve, but i don't know how to check. Kinda just shootn in the dark, cuz I don't know what it is. Its a 92 4.0 142,xxxmi, Anyone want to throw in their .02?
  3. I got an idle problem that comes and goes. It will go away after warming up (its my DD and I don't want to drive it and get stuck at college) , but it throws like 5 codes... The ones that concern me is MAP sensor circuit and then it brings up O2 sensor circuit. The MAP came off another cherokee cuz it screwed up once before and I just swaped it on(if it worked don't fix it kinda scenario). But I had a feeling that the used one would fail soon, its actually been like 6months. And I don't think the O2 sensor has ever been replaced.................... Should I just go buy the O2 and MAP and see where I am when the dust settles?
  4. They don't have a picture for some reason. but they do for some other trusses they build. http://www.tntcustoms.com/Treks_Content.asp?vId=10 All the good pictures of any truss they build are on pirate4x4 but I guess they are down right now so I can't get any good pics.
  5. Oh yeah. I completely forgot I have a book on cherokees with your MJ in it. I should have remembered  Well any thoughts on my plan for the TNT truss?
  6. How did you mount it? What bracket kit did you use? I was thinking about going with the TNT truss. Then I called them and they said it was for the narrow trac, they said there would be space between the truss and the C's. And IF I really wanted to narrow the axle I could use the truss as a guide for my measurements, and help strengthen the axle a bit.
  7. I was thinking about it and the axle isnt that much wider than the D30. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the D30 is about 60" wms to wms and the wide trac 44 is 65" wms to wms. So 2.5" wider on each side IF it was centered under the jeep which isnt bad. Sounds good on paper, I don't think it works that way.
  8. They don't look bad at all. Maybe using the tape measure is just screwing with my eyes. And maybe looking up fullwidth axle cherokee on google turned me off. I don't know I guess I will just wing it.
  9. It isn't the same. End of discussion. The Model 20 used in the MJ had one-piece axles. The FSJ's AMC20 also used 1 peice axles. And why would you buy an FSJ for axles if you didnt want to go full width? I myself think it would look really cool to have the full width axles under it. It won't be worth the money if you narrow the existing axles. Youd be better off selling what you got and buying something different that is the right width to begin with. I wanted a FSJ narrow trac, kinda hard to come by down here in hawaii. So I took the chance. Full width on my MJ would look weird first of all, and they would be a cop magnet! Theres yotas down here with tires sticking out 1' from the truck rolling with like 15" deep rims and they make us look bad. Because of that whole "crab" look as they like to say the people who don't like 4x4 and big trucks(damn hippies) are making a big deal out of that saying its hazardous to their safety on the road. That whole discussion has put any 4x4 that is lifted with tires sticking out of the flares in the cross hairs of the cops, when I go to get my safety check even now they question if I have a lift or the my tires might be to big( my truck hasnt changed since my sig pic). So far narrowing the axle doesnt look that difficult, but thats just me.
  10. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_li ... dana44.htm What about this? In the end I might just sell them............or run them I don't know............ :wall:
  11. belive it or not they are around, you catch one on the road quite often. Jeep sold alot down here, the hard part for me is finding the waggy, thats why I jumped on this one. I don't regret it I just need to figure out how to build the MJ using those axles.
  12. I don't know the gears. I could try but I think the only guys who will want them is the yota guys who are doing SAS. I'm in hawaii, so I can't trade or sell like up in the states
  13. yeah if i had to keep it I would keep it, but I don't want full width axles
  14. Ok so the whole story is I got this FSJ cherokee for free from craigslist, my whole thought was D44 front and 50/50 chance being wide trac or narrow trac, so I jumped on it. Dropped the axles and its a wide trac.............so what are my options? My original plan(if it was a narrow trac) was to pair it with an isuzu rodeo rear dana 44. And I could still do that if I shorten the axle, if you have knowledge on shortening an axle please let me know because the axle is about as wide as the truck now and that will look plain stupid with tires sticking out that far. Second I wanted to truss the front with a TNT customs waggy truss(same truck should work) but if I shorten it to about the width of a narrow trac anyone think that the truss would have to be modified? I will try confirm this with TNT customs. And third, if I absolutely have to run the fullwidth axle what rear should I pair it with, I really don't want the AMC20 that came with it. I would really appreciate some help right now, cuz yeah I'm confused :???: Thanks
  15. I plan to buy the NV3550 before I put in the system. I just wanted to get the system out of the way while I have $. RK? Rock Krawler? Their triple threat system?
  16. Just curious on the pros and cons of the Y link suspension. I already called them and priced it out $1200 shipped to the middle of the pacific, Hawaii :D. So who's running it? What are your thoughts? Do they have bushed ends or superflex joints(forgot to ask)? Are the arms are adjustable to not affect caster(forgot too)? And anyone have any idea on what it would take to convert that belly pan from AW4 to NV3550 in the future? I just want to get the big chunk of $$$ out of the way so I have it. Thanks
  17. oh ok, then pretty much just rivet/bolt another regulator track thing in huh. sounds simple enough
  18. Wow so I gotta drill out the rivets, lame. Ill go snag a spare regulator before I start drilling my door. Weekend project, Thanks
  19. ok when my passenger window goes down, when i try to put it up it like skips like the gears are striped. I have to pull it up like 1/4" and then it will go up. Any one have any ideas, cuz the whole gear system thing is riveted to the door.
  20. ive been planning to swap my truck from auto to manual. And my cousin said the comp will throw a check engine light cuz it won't get a response from the transmission. Is there a way to confuse the comp? He said get a manual trans ECM, but would a manual trans ECM work from a 4cyl or V6 cherokee? And if thats a no does the ECM have to be the same year as the engine, in this case 92' 4.0L HO. So i would need a 91+ manual 4.0L ECM? I really have a feeling i answered my own question.
  21. So would that work for an MJ or XJ i would assume the parts are close to each other.
  22. flipped it, retubed it, same difference to me he moved the pumkin to the drivers side.
  23. I thought isuzu and honda had ifs....... Oh well ill go yank an axle out of one and see. People seem to like imports in hawaii and can't drive for beans the JY should have a few of those suckers lying around.
