  1. Great, thank you.
  2. Thanks for the advice. System has fluid, it has the original trans in it, I'm thinking we're probably going to drop it and replace the whole thing with the kit. It will be a learning experience. Just wish I could find the tutorial I had come across before, had step by step with pictures. Ian
  3. Hello! So my '87 MJ sportruck had a slew of issues last summer and has been sitting in my drive way ever since. Right now it won't go into gear, so I'm assuming the clutch needs to be replaced (hopefully not the entire trans, I'll start with the clutch and go from there) I have the new clutch, but I don't know how to replace it exactly, I used to have a link to a DIY tutorial, but can't seem to find it anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! :) Ciao, Ian 1987 Comanche Sportruck, 5 speed. 4.0L inline 6

    Clutch pedal assembly

good to know, If the part I ordered isn't the right one then I'll definitely be in touch. How about light fixtures? my front PS turn signal and my rear DS brake light/ turn signal lights aren't working, the front PS signal broke inside the light where the bulb makes contact with the metal (the metal is gone) and the rear signal and brake worked when I replaced the bulb, but then went out again (perhaps a wiring issue?) Also now my odometer back light has gone out too, but that could be a fuse..

    Clutch pedal assembly

I was prepared to spend whatever was needed (within reason), but it seems I may have found what I'm looking for out of a Jeep Yard in Alabama for $55 after shipping, but in the event that it isn't the right part, I'd be prepared to spend between 50-100$ after shipping costs (which shouldn't be more than 20$)
  8. Hi all, I have an '87 comanche, 4.0L - Straight 6 - STD trans. I'm looking for a clutch pedal and if possible the hardware that comes with it (i have the original hardware from my pedal, but it isn't in the best condition) If you know of some place I can find one, or you yourself are willing to part with one, please contact me or reply here. Thanks!
  9. So I went to work on the clutch on Saturday, there must have been a factory crack on one end because the whole pedal broke off down near to where it connects to the rod that runs to the cylinder, I can take a picture of it later to show exactly what I'm talking about, it should be a difficult fix, just need a new master and slave cylinder and another clutch pedal to replace the broken one, problem..nobody in this area has that jeep, salvage yards included. Anyone have any idea where I could find a clutch pedal and the hardware that comes with it for an '87 comanche?
  10. by the time this Comanche got to me it was covered in dirt and rust, it's going to take some time to get it cleaned up, hopefully I can keep all the crucial parts maintained and tuned until I get time to do an over haul on the whole thing and bring it back to the life it once knew in its younger years. thanks again for all the advice guys.
  11. it starts every time now, but the clutch went out on me today, going to tackle that beast this weekend.
  12. VERY helpful, thanks! Hopefully this weekend I'll have a chance to clean all the terminals and check wires etc, I appreciate all the help guys.
  13. Okay thanks I'll check the ground wire CPS?
  14. Hi, I've just recently bought an '87 Comanche L6 4.0ltr with a manual transmission, and it normally runs just fine, but it goes through spells where it won't start at all (unless push started) and then it will start up multiple times no problem, then again with the no starting, and so on... Had the battery/charging system checked, alternator is fine, battery is new and good, terminal connections look good etc.. so I'm down to a few things I think it could be, but since this is my first Jeep I am unsure. 1) perhaps the clutch safety switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced, or bypassed (not sure how to do this) 2) the starter solenoid may be going bad (maybe this is why it didn't show up on the scanner when i took it to the auto parts store) 3) possibly the starter itself is going bad? but read to be okay at auto part store... Any thoughts? Thank you. -ian
