  1. I've just tried and tried. I can't get it right. I'll get at it again tommorrow, I'd be thankfull if you could help me out, stepby step! I'll get up with you, bro!
  2. Eagle, you're right. about fixing it right the first time, I just don't know how. I've gotten the fuse panel pulled out, and, just about fainted when I saw everything that was behind it! I have some contact spray, but, what is the best way to clean everything? I mean, someone else told me not to take any wires out, or off. Id never get them back where they all go. Right now, I'm trying to find where the wires to the bad terminals are, and see how they look. not trying to be stupid or anything, but, that spray/cleaner only works if you spray it on, and brush it clean, right? I mean, it won't do no good to just spray it into the connectors back there, without putting some elbow greese into there also, would it? I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew with this, and end up with a major problem, cause I was just trying to get the blinkers, and wipers working, know what I mean? I'm sure, If you could see the burnt terminals, compared to the clean, shiny brass one's, you would agree that the problem might lie in there, somewhere. Please tell me what I can do to get this connect. fixed, cleaned, or, bypassed. Please take it to mind, that I DO want to do it right the first time, not jerry rig it! thanks, John
  3. ok, here's a picture of the "burnt" terminals, in my fuse box, I want to bypass this terminal, with this piece(single fuseable link) I bought the other day, should'nt this work? If I take out the fuse box, find the right wire's, splice this part in, and put it back together. here's the burnt terminals, look at it, and compare it to the "shiny" good one, to the left of the bad one, http://pic70.picturetrail.com/VOL1861/8 ... 121463.jpg ok, here's the part, or piece, I want to wire in; http://pic70.picturetrail.com/VOL1861/8 ... 734763.jpg think it'll work?
  4. So, You did'nt figure out your "blinker/brake/dash lights" problem before you junked it? I been trying to figure this one out, and needless to say, I'm getting frustrated with it!
  5. I meant, that they haven't somehow crossed your hazard circuit into the mix at the rear. How do I check this?
  6. OK, now I'm supposd to check these at the fuse panel, or, up front at the head light/blinker sockets?
  7. Hello, I've got a problem, that's got me pulling all my hair out, trying to figure out and fix. On mine, the PO , well, I don't know WHAT the PO did. Now, my blinkers don't work, windshield wipers, horn, lighter, either. when I put on the brakes, the blinker indicator lights, on the dash light up. Interior lights don't work at all, unless you turn the headlight knob all the way to the left. Anyone have any Ideas about this "Gem" of a problem? I'm fixing to take the fuse panel out, clean it(with a wire brush, and contact cleaner), check to see what the wires look like behind there, put it back in. I know this won't fix the wireing mix up, but, maybe it will help my wiper/blinker problem...................... John
  8. I have the same problems. On mine, the PO , well, I don't know WHAT the PO did. 9. Ok, bless her heart, she was about to cry, thinking she might have messed something up. anyway, I was out side, using the turkey bastering suckering thing-ah-mah-jig, then ran back in to check to see if you had answered me yet, and we both had the same solution. She actually did'nt even pour enuf in to worry about, so ... Thanks my friend John
  10. anyone, My Neice just accidently poured about a half an cup of oil, into the powersteering pump before I could stop her. It's on (in) toyota 4runner What if anything do i need to do? Please answer in a hurry.
  11. ok my friends, I replaced the inner tie rod end, and I will have to say, it now drives like a caddy! I did end up getting a new one from Auto Zone, for about 20 bucks. Glad I went ahead and did it!!!!
  12. ok, here's a pict. not a good one, see if you can tell anything from it, if not. I'll run out there, and take a better one Thanks, John
  13. hmmm, sounds like a good idea. thanks
  14. Eagle, ok, thanks. That's what I get for trying to save a dollar, the knowledge to know not to do that crap again! I'm just enjoying learning all these things from yall, and at the same time, it's become a project/hobby! Thanks again !( I really don't see a whole lot of thanks  , for help given, in these forums, what's up with that people? :headpop: )
  15. ok. I'll try it in a day or two. Right now, I gotta concentrate on getting the Tie Rod end, put in, before I end up in a ditch! Thanks for ya help. I'll get back to you Bro!
  16. Ok, when I pull out the fuse panel, the wire's going into the back of it, are they like wire's that plug into the rear of the panel, or, are they wired straight into the "board"? The one at the junk yard, matches it exactly. I was asking, tring to figure out if I could just unplug one, and plug in the good one, In other word's, Easy/simple job, or kinda hard, easier to just clean the one I have, job?!!! I'm a welder, certified in all types of welding(cept under water welding), and have been welding for 21 year's, working shutdown's in Power Plant's, and paper mill's, BUT !,, I can't wire up a light socket! an outlet, and expect ya houe to burn! so, All these wiring problem's are killin me! Give me something to weld! ha ha
  17. yeah, I got the top nut off, and the one on the "sleeve" off, or loose anyway. the main problem was that all the wheels are off the xj, and that part is down, almost into the dirt. I was having alittle trouble with it, and it's hot here in Ga. so, that 18.95 one at Auto Zone, was begining to look pretty good!
  18. I havent tried this before, but I hope you are able to view these picture's I'm tring to send link's to, Here's the Fuse Panel pict, look at the burnt one. http://pic70.picturetrail.com/VOL1861/8 ... 121463.jpg
  19. Ole Pete, you here? I found a Cherokee Laredo, at a near-by junk yard. For my steering problem, a friend at work looked at my MJ, and saw that I need a "Tie Rod end", or "Ball Socket", or" drag bar/socket" I don't know what you call it, but at "Auto Zone", they call it a "Tie Rod" end (inner). Well, I took off work early, went to the small, near-by junk yard, where that Cherokee I knew about is at. well, I tried everything to get that dang part off that Cherokee, and could'nt get it! It was'nt a wasted trip, cause I did get me a new R.V. mirror, since mine was cracked, scoped out a few other things that I'll get this weekend also. But, I remember you ( I think you told me) told me that MJ's, and Cherokee part's interchange. Tommorrow, after work. I'll go get the part from Auto-Zone, like I should have done to begin with. I was trying to save a few buck's. Just wanted to make sure that the part's will interchange. Especially since this weekend (or so) I'm going to get the blower motor out of it also, and probaly, the fuse panel. there's something else I wanted to talk to you about. ( I hope I'm not bothering you with all this, I am in need of a "mentor" ha ha.)
  20. Hey, I found a Cherokee Laredo, at the junk yard, I've already robbed some small crap off it, like bulbs, and a rear view mirror( mine was broken). Will the front axle,, 4WD drive stuff off there, fit to my frame and all? In other word's, is this what I'm looking for? :D
  21. ok, A blue wire goes to it, the blue wire runs thru the firewall, by the back of the speedometer... that help to figure out what it is?
  22. Pete, I'd like it to be street legal, but, turn heads everywhere i go. I want it to have the biggest tire's possible, you know, bout like the 4 wheel drive you imagined having when you were 16. I want to be able to go off road anytime and anywhere. Down here in Georgia, we ride the power lines all the time, don't have many trail's. I think there's a couple of good pick and pulls here in atlanta, which is only 45 minutes from me. I'm a certified welder, I work shutdown's in power plants. Also the guy I work for is also a good friend of mine, therefore I have access to our welding shop 24-7! My only problem, is that I don't know my 2wd's, OR my 4 wd's, like you guy's do. I'm lost, but really would love to do all this. This coming week, I'm due about $1700.00, from the ole IRS. and would like to spend a good part of this on converting my mj into 4 wd!! get it painted, headliner, steering problem fixed........after all that , I'm good to go! Sum this up: With my money I got coming, I want to be able to hear the tires humming, riding down the road. Have 4wd under me, and a nice, maybe "Black", paint job. I know with all of yall's experience, I might be able to make this happen..............
  23. I want to convert my 2 wd into a 4 wd also, only having 2 teenager's, I'm a little worried about the cost of doing this. And I'm scared to start on it, then run into an expensive surprise. Anyone know about what it'll cost, an estimate, naturally.
  24. Well, actually, It is a "BOSCHE" part mounted to the side firewall, i had a picture of it, I'll have to send it to you, I'm thinking it is a relay or something. I really do need to fix my blinker problem, like Monday afternoon. Hopefully, When you get a minute tomorrow, think you could help me? (Monday afternoon) I'm going to take the fuse panel out, to see behind it. I know one connection is burned out on it(in the panel.) I've got a picture of the bad place, in the fuse panel. I'll post the link to it, it's at picture trail. I'll look you up tomorrow thanks bro
  25. But as for now, I'm trying to figure out how to put my picture of it, by my name, like as in your's. (download a pict. of it)
