  1. Weather seals are deffinetely fixed enough  Ripped the headliner out and should be getting the carpet out soon. But I've been wanting to look at my float assembly to see if theres any way I could salvage it and make it work instead of having to search for one. To get the float out, will I have to drop the gas tank or take off the bed? Or can I just crawl under and find it? Thanks.
  2. I've got a spray gun (my dad works for a sprinkler company and they have to spray pipe red, I'm allowed access to it when I want) I think I'm going to get a gallon and a can. The roll on can get most and I think the can could touch up tight places that I couldn't get the roller into (I'm trying to keep the price under 100 to do the bed and floorboards considering I havnt got a job yet) I'll be doing a full spray on bedliner paint job, eventually. But I did get the weather seals fixed, just waiting for a hard rain to really test them. Thanks
  3. Is Rust-oleum a good bedliner? I think I've got the weather seals fixed and now I'm about to be tearing out the carpet, seat, and headliner to bedline the floorboards (maybe under the headliner, as well) and the bed. Walmarts got black Rust-oleum for 45$ a gallon. I was going to get 2 gallons. Also would it be better to roll it on or spray it on? I'm still looking for a '89 float assembly, PM me if anybodys got one, please. Thanks.
  4. Looking for a '89 float assembly. For a shortbed Pioneer. 4.0 I6 5-speed 4x4 if it matters. Thanks
  5. Thanks  I plan on making my own bumper very soon, the one in front of the original mounts horribly. And I didnt know that they came with disks in the front? Mine looked like drums, sorry. Thanks
  6. I think I've got all the weather seals figured out, just got to make a trip to Autozone. Next I want to tackle is brakes and the gauges that don't work on the cluster. I've known about the gas gauge not working and I thought it was the float assembly, but then I noticed that a couple more gauges weren't working and started to get second thoughts about it. About all that seems to work is the speedometer, odometer, and RPM meter. The turn signals work as well. Would there be something that would make the cluster not register to those gauges? The gas says full at all times, which doesnt make sense for the float assembly because I would think it would be reading empty. For the brakes, like I posted earlier I want to upgrade to disk's and am wondering the best approach to it. For now I'd just like to convert 2 brakes instead of all 4. Which should be upgraded first, rear or front? Thanks
  7. Thanks! I had been following your build since I got on CC  But it's actually the cloth strips inside the plastic piece I posted a picture of, that I need. They're all rotted and destroyed. I've been searching for cut-to-fit weather stripping but have had no luck so far >.> It's hard to get around and find stuff right now cause I'm only 15 and live to far out in the country to walk places :hmm: (also if I'm not using the correct terms for parts, please excuse it I'm still learning what all the things are technically considered)
  8. I did that but it still added them :dunno: I'll try again on one pic, sorry not to internet savy.
  9. here's the rest of the pics. Where the weather seal is missing (need solutions to fixing that, please. ) How the parking brake release was broken. It's now fixed though  Which is the next pic New Rampage H4 headlight casings  Waiting on my upgraded harness to come in and then I'm installing. Front skid Gas tank skid And original Jeep key  Current projects are fixing the window seals, figuring out why alot of the electronics won't work, getting a float for the fuel gauge, and deciding about the front brakes. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  10. Okay I'm just going to upload the pictures to Photobucket tomorrow and hope they show up. But otherwise current thing I need is new brakes, I fixed the parking brake and it works perfectly (will post those pics as well) But the front brakes need more stopping power. I really want to convert to disk brakes but I don't know what all I will need and how to proceed with it. I've got about 200 dollars to put towards disk brakes, will that be enough? Thanks.
  11. Okay guys I uploaded the pics to my computer, but I can't figure out how to post them? Help.
  12. Thats the thing, it already HAS skids on it. I didnt know if they came on most, or if there was a special MJ package release in 89 that had skids :rotf: And I'm working on pics, guys. But I'm on a very slow dial-up connection so I have to wait till I go to the library tonight :hmm: Also my brother wasnt home yesterday, and his phone is what has the best camera on it
  13. As some of you already know. I finally got me a Comanche. It's a 89 Pioneer 4x4 5-speed 4.0L I6. Got it for 1400. It has 223000 miles on it but runs flawlessly with good power. No serious problems other then the emergency brake release cable being snapped (kinda need that with a 5-speed) the float assembly not working and my gas tank always reading full. And lastly a small leak in the rear main seal, it drips on the exhaust pipes so it smells a little when driving a good bit. Other then that it's about 20-30 small problems which will be fixed ASAP. Plans after I get a job and can afford lifting, is 5.5-6.5" and 33" tires. Right now it sits stock on 30" tires, brand new mud's in the back (fronts coming soon enough) And amazingly enough, theres absolutely no rust on it but a lil tiny bit of surface in some places. And a question is, was there any special packages that included a transfer case, gas tank, and front skid? Cause this has all 3 that look to be factory, but I didnt know if they all came with that or it was a special package. And first problem I'm tackling is the weather seals inbetween the sliding window and the quarter window, it's just the ones are missing in the guide for the sliding window and I'd like to get them fixed soon. Pictures will be up as soon as I can get a good internet connection! Thanks. Knucklehead97
  14. Also, I'm starting my build thread now. Project "don't Tread On Me". It'll be slow at first but I think it'd be better to start asking questions and keeping ya'll posted in there. Thanks.
  15. Thanks guys  If it's just the tie-rod, then it'll soon be fixed with a 1-ton custom tie-rod. The wrenching was going to begin today, but over here in Attalla AL we have a bit of a storm ruining it. Wheres a good place to buy the door window weather seals? The drive side is missing the comeplete one in-between the moving window and the quarter window, it's added a mildew smell to the interior (Carpets and bench seat are going to be removed for extreme cleaning as soon as I get the seals fixed.)
  16. She's perfect! Got her for 1400 and theres only small things that need to be fixed, she runs great and shifts amazingly. Only problem on the 120 mile trek back was a little bit of DW when we took a sharp turn fast. 89 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4x4 :D Thanks for all the information you guys have given me. And thanks for all the help you've given me to find my dream truck, which has now become reality. And I look forward to hopefully pleasing ya'll with a build thread soon, I'm going to post it up and explain it in more details.
  17. It's official. Going up there tomorrow with 15 in cash and most likely bringing her home. Will post pics when it's sitting at my house
  18. Thanks for the reply, and I shall remember to pronounce it correctly  I havnt messed with it myself, but if I get the truck then it's the first thing on my list.
  19. It's an 89'. But I havnt bought it. I'm probably going to get it next weekend if the guy still has it, but I couldnt make it up there today. He said all it is is the floater won't float, is there anyway to rig this? By building your own float and attaching it to the assembly?
  20. Is there any way that an XJ's floater assembly can be configured into fitting?
  21. Hey guys. I'm looking at a Comanche right now, that seems pretty nice. But theres one problem that I'd like to figure out before I purchased it. The guy said that the gas gauge doesnt work, and that its the floater assembly. But he couldnt find any replacement assemblys for it. Do you guys know of how to resolve this? I'd like to know as fast as possible. Thanks. Knucklehead97
  22. The guy said he'd take 15 for it. He said it has a small leak in the rear main seal, the headliners falling off (don't matter to me), and that the air don't work (I don't really care about that) All small stuff. It has new mud tires in the rear. I may be looking at it tomorrow
  23. I was planning on asking about going 1500  And if I get it, I'll probably just take a rubber mallet to the cab corner and see what I can do. Otherwise it doesnt really matter, right now. I'll be doing a full bedliner paint job eventually  I'm going to call the guy in a minute, hopefully he still has it and will hold onto it till next weekend when I can get up there.
