  1. Yea, I used to could pull up on the glass and it would catch and crank up. This time it won't even catch. I can only raise the glass only about 1/8" though. It seems like something is in a bind and won't let the glass come up any more than that. A picture will help a lot. If I drill out the rivets, does the part just come out or does it pin or clip to something?
  2. Are you kidding? Really? I've thrown things before, then all I had to do after that was to go and pick it up! The way my luck goes, if I slam the door, I'll break the glass! Really?
  3. If I rolled the window down all the way, I would need to get inside the door panel and help the window up until the crank would grab and roll up. A friend :dunce: rolled it down the other day, now I can't get it to roll up any at all. :headpop: Any ideas on how to get it to roll up just one more time? :help:
  4. O.K., but with wider tires, I'll need wider rims, right? Yea, the stock rims are the steel ones with the 9 rectangular holes. What I want is whats in Comanche Addicts' pic(Mighty Joe), but with my drive train, it looks like that's all I'll do is want! :fs1: :???: :dunno:   :grrrr: With 60-series tires, is there is a certain rim size or are there different types and sizes? I mean, the rim/lugs should be off-centered and have more tire/wheel to the outside so as to keep the inside from rubbing the leafs, or should I be carefull of salesmen who just want to move rims and set me up with rims that have the lugs "centered" and then have another problem to deal with. I think, I'll try the spacers on the rear first since that's the cheapest way, and if that doesn't work, I do the 60"s with black rims!
  5. Sorry, but all I know at this moment is just that it,s a 4 speed tranny and I don't know the gear ratio of the rear end. Am I asking for trouble with this bigger tire quest?
  6. You know, I was thinking the rear wells looked deeper than the front. If I went as wide as I wanted in the rear, the tires would extend past the flares in the front, correct? That's not so bad I think. And 31's will work on my stock rims? I like the idea of taller tires. I'm trying to keep everything as stock as I can. Also, would bigger tires be hard on my 4 banger and tranny?
  7. '86 manche, 3" lift 2.5L engine, 2 wheel drive. I've got stock rims, P235/70 R 15 tires. I want my tires to be as wide and even with my fender flares, and possibly a little taller without any complications or any more modifications. I'm thinking it would take bigger rims as well as tires? Could anyone tell me what it would take to make this work? :???:
  8. Thanks and you guys keep me posted
  9. Any one know where I could get some replacement seatbelts ,tan in color, for my MJ. My drivers side is getting a cut in it and I'm afraid it will not pass many more inspections.
  10. Hey Mobius1, I would like to see those pics. Thats one option. And Eagle, it's an '86 and I don't recall any other sensor on the block even though there is an unused port that is plugged up, what I mean is sealed off on the drivers side. There are no other loose wires that would plug up to it. I would guess that I would put the guage sending unit in the thermostat or the block and leave the idiot light sending unit in the head, right? Does the sensor measure the temperature of the coolant or the temperature of the head itself?
  11. that's what I don't know.the sensor fits pretty deep into the head.
  12. Anyone know where a good place to put an electric temp guage sending unit on a 2.5 is without taking out the idiot light sending unit? :???:If I put it in the place of the warning lights sending unit won't it mess with the ECU?
  13. yeh,I'm thinking a bad wire connection , fuel pump relay ,or the fuel pump. I've had my Comanche since it was new in '86 and I've done just about all the repairs to it myself. Thanks for the input,I thought may be someone else may have had the same problem before. On future posts' I'll try to be more specific and detailed with my explanations and questions. Thanks again and I'll post what I find.
  14. Is it just me, or is what I described that confusing? And what happened to rule #1 ?
  15. Well then O.K. I'm thinking fuel pump but if I could find out where the fuel pump relay is located on a 1986 2.5 litre Throttle body injection system, I could check that before I get too involved replacing the pump.
  16. O.K. by "cracked" I mean that I took a wrench and loosened it while the engine was running. And, no I'm not pouring gas in the throttle body while I'm going down the road, that might make me a redneck! I swear it runs great after I pour a little gas in the throttle body just to get it to start. If I do not do the pouring gas thing, and loosen the big metal line to the throttle body and turn the key to the on position, no gas comes out. Oh yes ,I didn't allow enough gas to spew out to get everything soaked. I'll check the vacuum line and where would the fuel pump relay be located?
  17. Oh its the fuel lines allright metal lines, one input, one return.I broke the input loose while the motor was running and it spewed gas out.How do I go about jumping the fuel pump while it's still in the tank to see if it's in the wiring or to see if the pump is even pumping? It's as if I might be loosing the prime. Could it be that when I pour some gas in, it primes the system then it turns into a siphoning situation.I don't know!
  18. 86 2.5L TBI Well I broke the lines loose at the throttle body and there,s no fuel flow when the engines cranked. If I pour a little gas into the throttle body and crank it ,it runs. I can drive at all speeds fron idle to freeway speeds and and no surges or no cutting out. It runs fine untill I turn it off and try to crank it again and I,m back to square one.How do I check the fuel pump? Are there any relays to check?
  19. Brakes---- power steering pump output???????
  20. Going into the military, GOD BLESS YOU !!!
  21. Yep I'll do that here pretty soon. I'll post the results.
  22. One tire or both? I'll try that today. Thanks!
  23. I guess I could have mentioned that it's a 2wd, 4 banger, strictly for street use.Well,I had the wheels balanced about 800 miles ago,the u joints changed about 3000 miles ago (they were definitely bad). Here's what it's doing,0 to 50,no vibration. between 50 to 55 mph there's a small vibration,4th gear of course, when you get past 55 the vibration is very noticable. once it gets to about 65 to 70 the vibration goes away. and when I'm slowing down, and push the clutch in, the vibration eases up a bit but is still there from 55 to 45 then it goes away as I get slower. What would that mean when I push the clutch in,cause then it doesn't really have any load pressure on it does it, right? I've done a visual on my tires and they seem to look o.k. still a lot of tread,no uneven wear,no out of round. What about the drive shaft, could that get out of balance? It would be nice if it could be an easy fix, but if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck atall !!!!
  24. first of all, thanks to ComancheRob,Pete M,Eagle, and ekulrenlig for the info on trannies.I have been way busier than I really care to be lately.I think I have been all over more than any place else for the past two months.Any-way,I bought the best truck that I ever had in '86.I put 301,000 miles on it. I let my two teenage sons drive it to school for three years each.(and it survived),with one more son to go starting next year. When my Comanche was new I got pulled over by the D.P.S. for speeding and got away with a warning because all he wanted to know was how I liked my new Comanche. I knew it then that this truck was special. So now I've got a vibration somewhere, I think it might be 4th gear in my AX4,thank you very much! I guess that will be my next repair.Well ,I'm looking forward to touching base with some others who know whats-what with a great truck that was phased-out way too soon! [/b]
  25. thanks alot
