  5. Changed the fuel regulator updated the ground wires and cleaned truck up and sat on my porch and watched another great day end. If I could only figure out how to post pictures
  6. Hell I just liked watching a show that had a MJ on it. What amazed me was the price you could buy them new and the price you can buy them today. To me holds it's retail we'll but I wouldnt sell mine.
  7. Thanks cruise just going by what i was told on voltage.
  8. Mine has been doing the same thing yours has been doing I get by with carrying a can of starter fluid with me if it cranks I'm good if it doesn't I spray alittle starter fluid. My truck has puzzled all the certified and non certified repairmen in eastern nc. I swing into repair shops to give them a challege and still no one can figure it out then I break out the starter fluid and it fires right up. The newest repair man did some digging through some wire diagrams and old tech articles. It sounds like it is the closest reason why it's not firing. On the older MJ's it needs 12 volts to fire and run fuel pump in the start ignition position but when the key is turned to the start position it only gives 6 volts which doesn't givecenough juice to run. Then if you turn it back to run position or acc mode it has 12 volts. So asked him to study it alittle more.
  9. OK i have looked over your build and i have drooled at every pic. I own 88 4x4 4.0 SB MJ for little over a year i have taken it two jeep dealers one in Raleigh and one in Greenville N.C. and have spent well over $3,000 only to go to the dealer and have to get it to crank myself. So i have been using starter fluid to crank my MJ for bout 8 mths using the spray off and on every other day. I was wondering if you would mind looking over mine and seeing if you could figure out why it will not start unless starter fluid is added. I live in Greenville N.C. and work in Raleigh any help would be great everyone has said sell the truck i just can't part with it even though it has tried me for sometime. Thanks and great build.

  11. try spraying starter fluid into air filter housing through rubber tube off left hand side. Just to get it running.
  12. i have something you can try i have had this problem since owning the truck for a lil over a year and its the only thing that works. Not a fix but on mine will get it back running for a week or a day just depends. Spray starter fluid into the air filter assembly there is a rubber hose that you can pop off and spray into hole and mine will fire off everytime. don't know why it just works on mine.
  13. MJ taking the dogs down to the river.
  14. Do you still have the bucket seats and mounting brackets out of the MJ?
  15. Sorry just so happy to take the family out on it.
  16. the thing between the DS headlight and the airfilter that has a vacum hose attached to it and has a flapper valve inside it you can stick your finger or long screw driver inside it. Not sure what it is called thought it was call a AICV could be wrong
  17. cruiser went to the dealer to look at my truck and find out the road we need to take with it. So the dealer said the truck would not start on it own without spray carb cleaner into it but when it would crank it would idle very high so i stuck my finger into the air idle control valve and opened it up a bit and asked the repair man to crank it up. Bam it cranked right up and idle perfect, asked him to cut the truck of and we cranked the truck 10 -15 times. The guys in the shop could not believe that doing that would make a change. Asked the dealer to keep checking it through out the day to make sure it would still work as of closing time it is doing fine. Why would this make the truck crank when it would not crank on its own and also not have the high rev .
  18. will it cause fuel problems and a not start isue
  19. Air Idle Control Valve What does it do? Also what does it affect when it is not working right?
  20. One reason i haven't worked on it myself and let the dealer worry about it was I had a little baby girl. Just wish i could get the comanche running to take her around in it.
  21. The truck is a 88 4.0L Auto. I have replaced one CPS on this truck the one from NAPA not hard at all. Just can't seem to pinpoint why it will not stay reliable. Every couple days or weeks it does the same thing. So that lead me someone else. Wish i could have a commanche club meet at my house and pay for beer, food and all the fishing u could stand to get this thing back on the road to be a RELIABLE pickup.
  22. Dealership called today and said crank sensor or the computer. Told them to do the crank sensor again this would be the third CPS (2 mopar, and 1 NAPA) As far as the computer it will run about 600.00 for new one is there another ave to take maybe used one or do i just bight the bullet. The only problem is once it is installed its mine so if it doesn't fix the problem i will have 2500 in a truck that doesn't run.
