The interior is mostly done... just waiting on a few parts that need to be replaced.
New roof liner has been installed
The interior is now mostly black instead of gray.
The interior restoration has begun before dropping the tranny and converting it to 4WD.
At first glance I thought that I was going to have to weld new floor boards.
As luck would have it... the rust was only superficial....
Fixed the problem with some rust inhibitor.
Put down a couple of thick layers of Herculiner.
I got a chance to install one of the rockers on the MJ today. I'll try to finish it tomorrow and paint them before the end of the week. I guess I'll start on the front bumper next. :ack:
For less than $100, I just finished fabricating my rockers (6 feet long). I also plan on tying them to the pinch seam for additional strength before finally painting them.
The new clutch kit, master, slave cylinders have arrived. All I need now is the new shifter since the one from the BA 10/5 will not work with the AX 15. Does anyone have one for sale?
While I find / buy the additional parts for the tranny swap, I decided to continue working on other areas of the MJ.
The bed rail armor has been installed.
I finally got the new tranny and tcase from the trailer into my garage. I also confirmed and it is definitely a 1993 XJ 4.0 AX15 (Serial Number - 53009528).
Now I just need to collect the additional parts for it.
Can I use any of the parts from my current Peugeot 2 WD tranny (shifter / brackets)?
I get creative like that from time to time. :clapping:
Here is something else that I came up with once I saw how expensive those LED boxes were.
LED box for my XJ
LED box for my Zuk.
Good to know.... I found an NV 3550 from a 2000 XJ. Looks like I may just have to settle for that one and finish the 4x4 conversion. Thanks for the info.
