  1. How is the sound? I know it may be difficult to get across, but Thrush's website won't play the sound clips for some reason.
  2. For those with thrush welded do you run the regular steel or the 304 stainless?
  3. Forgot to add to this. I don't like it, too friggen loud! :ack: Yeah that might get me into a little trouble with the law when I mosey on over to college
  4. Well as the topic says I am asking opinions on which muffler to choose. The engine is the straight six and I have no intention of making dual pipes after the header and catalytic converter (I'm sticking with the stock on both). In the threads I have seen here, most go with a Flowmaster 40. My questions is, without sounding like a japanese fart can, which muffler will give the deep, throaty roar I'm looking for? Also if anyone has any videos of the sound of their mufflers (I've seen at least one around here) and could either post or post the link, it would be most appreciated.
  5. When you replaced the brake line were you sure to flush all the air bubbles out of the lines with a pressure bleeder? If there are air pockets in the system it can cause the pedal to be spongy and brake response slow and light. If not, you grab a buddy and loosen the spigots on the drums and front brakes while he presses the pedal until no air bubbles show in the fluid coming out, then tighten it back up again. Repeat the process with all four spots until the desired tightness is achieved and you're good. It will tighten the pedal and improve braking response.
  6. Well on the upside at least he can't get dents...
  7. Congrats Pete! Very well derserved!
  8. Good point lol...I'm going to have to do some researching though being the poor high school student I am for some good prices.
  9. I live in Covington, LA. I did check it out and that stuff looks expensive lol. Another question: How do the plates on the front of the bed where the two front bars connect near the cab come out?
  10. I've never heard of that....where do you get/order it? And can it bend on a steel bending machine?
  11. Oh I see....well Ive never actually seen one so that was just a guess. If I were to fab one that would be what I would make it out of. Either that or aluminum to maybe save some mpg's...gas prices suck :fs1:
  12. I think it was probably made out of 1/4 inch powder coated stainless steel...its cheap, sturdy and easy to bend at any muffler and tailpipe shop. Thank you both for the pics and spec those will help a hell of a lot if I decide to fab my own. I have a welder who live on my street who can help with that process. I also have a truck box in the bed so I will have to factor in the swing height of the lid if I want to have both in there at the same time. Thanks again and if you have any new information then toss it my way if you get the time!
  13. Okay here we go, I am looking to either 1)Buy a rollbar(longbed) or 2) custom fab my own. I was wondering if anyone had measurements or specs on a longbed rollbar I could use to make my own if it turns out I can't get one for the right price? And how do you unfasten the two plates at the front of the bed where the front of the rollbar fastens too? Also I know they have a bracket that fastens to the body through the wheelwell but I have never seen one. Does anyone have any pics or could tell me how they attach? I know there are not many out there for sale and if they are they are ridiculously expensive so I will have to think up another option. Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Ryan

Hi everyone. I'm new to this website but not to Comanches. I drive a grey 89 longbed, 2WD, 4.0L, with a custom grille guard. Its already in here on a build thread (The Christmas Jeep) posted by my father(he got his account a long time ago i just never got around to making one till now) Newer pictures to come (I'm still having trouble figuring out how to upload). It took three years to restore and I use it as a daily driver. We have another comanche here at the house semi restored (not painted) for use as a hauler. Thats pretty much it just wanted to get out here and get to know some other comanche lovers.
